ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Board of Regents Meets on Friday, September 20

Baltimore, Md. (Sept. 18, 2024) – The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.

The board will convene at the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), Rita Rossi Colwell Center (2nd Floor) at 701 E. Pratt Street in Baltimore.

The board will briefly recognize the winners of the Board of Regents Staff Awards. The board also will hear an education forum, “Title IX Update,” presented by Janet Judge of the Education & Sports Law Group, LLC.

The board will vote on several action items, including new academic programs at several institutions. The board also will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students. The agenda includes a presentation from executive directors of the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø’s three regional higher education centers (RHECs) regarding the critical role its RHECs play in helping the system achieve its core mission of access, affordability, and student success.
 
Members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

The final item of the public session will be a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Exempted items include a proposal by an institution to name a program and two facilities after an individual; awarding of a contract for comprehensive data analytics services; meetings with three presidents as part of their performance reviews; a personnel matter concerning an employee at a ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institution; and development of the proposed fiscal year 2026 operating budget submission and potential adjustments to the submission.
