Lt. Governor Aruna Miller to be Guest Speaker During Computer Science Educator Conference with ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center for Computing Education

Baltimore, Md. (July 13, 2023) – The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center for Computing Education () of the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) is partnering with to invite the public to its computer science celebration on Wed., July 19 for its . The guest speaker will be Lt. Governor Aruna Miller. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.

The celebration will take place during a week of summer professional learning at Hood College, in the Rosenstock Hall at Hodson Auditorium in Frederick, Md. Attendees will learn about what ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø has accomplished in computer science education since the passing of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø House Bill 281 and what is on the frontier.

For a week in July, K-12 educators and higher education faculty gather to learn how to engage students most effectively in computing education. On July 19, district administrators, computer science specialists, and higher education administrators will join them to celebrate CS Education in ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø.

The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center for Computing Education (MCCE) is housed at the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø and was founded in partnership with the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore County, and the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, College Park. MCCE expands access to computing education to all ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø children by providing professional learning opportunities for pre-K through 12 educators. The long-term vision is to collaborate across the state with educators, community and business for a strong public-private partnership.

ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Codes is Code in the Schools’ professional learning division, and it serves as the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Regional Partner for Code.org.  In 2018 ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Codes started its partnership with the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center for Computing Education (MCCE) to provide professional learning to Computer Science educators across the state of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø. Together ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Codes and MCCE share a mission to bring high quality computer science professional learning experiences to every school district in ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø.
