ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Board of Regents Meets on Friday, November 13

Baltimore, Md. (Nov. 11, 2020) – The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, November 13. Access to the meeting is via livestream at the following link: /regents/meetings/livestream.

Due to the COVID-19-related restrictions on gatherings currently in effect, members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Associate Vice Chancellor for Education and Outreach Nancy Shapiro will present the education forum, titled “ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Civic Engagement.” She will discuss the high levels of civic engagement throughout the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø during the recent 2020 election season and the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍøVotes initiative. The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Office of Academic Affairs and the Board of Regents Work Group on Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement supported the initiative.

Action items include renovation of Building 1 for the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore (UMB) School of Nursing expansion at the Universities at Shady Grove and an increase in authorization for the new Science Complex at Towson University.

The final item of the public session will be a board vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. These items include presidential performance reviews; consideration of three naming requests by two separate institutions; awarding of new contracts for ERP services and IT networking hardware and software maintenance; a specific personnel matter at a ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institution; and matters related to collective bargaining.
