ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Schools Again Are Among Nation's Best in New U.S. News Rankings

Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 10, 2018) – ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) schools once again have been recognized among the nation's top universities in rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report.

The U.S. News & World Report 2019 edition of “America's Best Colleges” recognizes several ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institutions for academic excellence.

"The steady rise of so many ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institutions in rankings like U.S. News demonstrates that our 12 universities are doing a better job than ever of offering accessible, affordable and high-quality educational opportunities," ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Chancellor Robert Caret said.  "Every ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø student can get a great education, and earn a high-value degree or credential, at a strong public university.  The return on investment in public higher education is continuing to grow, both for the state and for its students and families."

The overall among public universities and colleges in the United States. The publication ranks UMCP No. 63 overall in the U.S., encompassing all institutions private and public.

The University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore County (UMBC) is again . UMBC is No. 9 on the list of Most Innovative Schools in the country, alongside other research universities including MIT, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, and the University of California-Berkeley (UC-Berkeley). The “most innovative” distinction highlights colleges and universities making leading-edge improvements in areas from curriculum to campus life to technology.

U.S. News also recognizes UMBC this year on its list of top national universities where students are most likely to encounter undergraduates from a different ethnic group than their own. UMBC appears alongside UC-Berkeley and the University of Southern California.

U.S. News ranked the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Eastern Shore and Bowie State University highly among its survey of 76 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and ranked Coppin State No. 53 in the category.

The list of top regional universities (north) among public universities includes three ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institutions: (ranked No. 12); Salisbury University (No. 22), and Frostburg State University (No. 40).

Additionally, in the category of “Best Value Schools” for Regional North, the and Towson University No. 68.

Among prestigious national publications—U.S. News & World Report’s College Rankings, Forbes Magazine's "America's Top Colleges," The Princeton Review, MONEY Magazine, The Washington Monthly’s “Best College Guide,” Diverse Issues in Higher Education, and others—every single ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø degree-granting institution is singled out for recognition.

U.S. News & World Report’s recent “Best Graduate Schools 2019” list ranked the University of Baltimore School of Law at No. 15 nationally for its clinical law programs. University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø University College (UMUC), in addition to a 2018 “1st Place” ranking for its M.S. in Data Analytics from the Watson Analytics Global Academic Network, is ranked the “No. 1 Best College 2018, Online & Nontraditional Schools,” by the Military Times.
