ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Regents Committees on Finance and Economic Development Meet January 28

Adelphi, Md. (Jan. 22, 2016) -- The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents Committee on Finance will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, and consider three action items, including proposed revisions to ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø procurement policies and procedures. The meeting will be held at Towson University in the West Village Common, Ballroom A. Parking is available in the West Village Garage.

The revisions to procurement procedures reflect a comprehensive review aimed at providing a procurement process of quality, broad-based competition, and uniformity. Other actions before the committee include a lease renewal for University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø University College.

The committee also will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items that fall under closing guidelines of the Open Meetings Act. Those items are two real property acquisitions in the City of College Park (Md.) and City of Salisbury (Md.). The full agenda and supporting materials can be accessed .

At noon, the Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization would vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss an impending request-for-proposals to rebid the contract to operate the National Cancer Institute's FFRDC (federally funded research and development center).

In public session, the committee will hear several information items. They include a presentation from featured start-up Grip Boost, LLC, a collaboration developed with University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, College Park engineering students to develop a quick-drying polymer-gel that restores grip in worn-down football gloves. R. Michael Gill, secretary of the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Department of Commerce, will discuss the department's ongoing strategic planning process and emerging priorities.
