ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development to Meet June 19

Adelphi, Md. (June 17, 2014) -- The ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents Committee on Finance will consider several action items at its next meeting on Thursday, June 19, including approval of the fiscal year (FY) 2016 capital budget request.

The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the President's Board Room, 14th floor of the Saratoga Office Building at the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore (UMB). The building is located at 220 North Arch Street in Baltimore, Md.

Other action items before the committee include approval of the FY 2016-2020 capital improvement program; the FY 2015 system-funded construction program request; and the 36th bond resolution for ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø auxiliary facility and tuition revenue bonds. The committee will vote on the renewal of a heat energy services contract at UMB and proposed technical amendments to Board Policy VII-7.00 on annual leave for nonexempt and exempt staff. The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization at noon will meet in the same location and vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session. The committee is scheduled to meet in public session at 12:40 p.m. In closed session, the committee would obtain advice of legal counsel related to an audit recommendation and discuss a pending request for proposals concerning a cyber-security contract.

The committee will hear information items regarding its overall strategies and a featured startup company developed at the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, College Park (UMCP), SecondWrite, LLC. The committee will vote on a proposal that would allow UM Ventures at UMCP to invest up to $500,000 in FY 14 and FY 15 in ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø-based start-up companies that license ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø-owned intellectual property.
