ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Board of Regents Meeting for November 2 Moved to University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore

Adelphi, Md. (Oct. 31, 2012) -- The location for the meeting of the University System of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents on Friday, November 2 has been changed. The meeting now will be held in the Board Room, 14th floor of the Saratoga Building at the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore. The building is located at 220 North Arch Street, Baltimore, MD. The public session of the meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

The board will vote on a proposal to establish a ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center on Academic Transformation and hear an educational forum regarding ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø strategies in fundraising and other advancement areas.

(The meeting's original location was the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons, MD. To accommodate the needs of attendees who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy, the meeting was moved to a more urban location in central ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø.)

At its recent retreat, the Board of Regents engaged in a thorough discussion about transformation of the academic model, including course redesign and other innovative learning models. The creation of a Center for Academic Transformation at ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø would enable an expansion of existing System-led efforts for collaboration among ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø campuses and enhance opportunities for funding of new initiatives.

The presentation regarding ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø advancement activities will be delivered by Regent Barry P. Gossett, chair of the BOR Committee on Advancement, and ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Vice Chancellor for Advancement Leonard R. Raley.

The board also will vote on a proposed master of arts in language, literacy and culture at the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore County (UMBC). The regents will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students. After the public meeting, the board will meet in executive session.
