ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Board of Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development Meet September 13
Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 10, 2012) -- The
ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents Committee on Finance at
its next meeting will hear information items regarding the University of
ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) facilities master plan and
the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø review of capital improvement projects.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. Thursday,
Sept. 13 in Ballroom A (Room 208) of the SMC Campus Center at the University of
ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore (UMB), 621 W. Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD. The committee
will announce publicly at 10 a.m. that it is first meeting in closed, executive
session.
The UMCES facilities master plan for 2012-2022
focuses on a unified vision for an institution with multiple locations across
the state. The plan sets forth a strategy for renewal and reinvestment in
existing facilities to address the existing deferred maintenance backlog and
improve efficiency of the current physical plant. The report on capital
improvement projects reflects activity for the five-month period starting March
1, 2012.

At the same UMB location, the Committee on
Economic Development and Technology Commercialization is scheduled to convene
in public session at noon. The committee will hear several information
items, including data on the formation of new companies facilitated by the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institutions from January 1, 2012 through
June 30, 2012. Also included is an update on the newly formed UM Ventures and
the UM Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The committee first
will convene in executive session at 11:30 a.m. in Room 210. Background
